(ST. JOSEPH, Mo.) The AFL-CIO is nearing the final stretch of this year's Adopt-a-Family campaign and the list is down to 11.

That's the number of families awaiting adoption this Christmas season. Executive Director Penny Adams said that total includes six families that have not been adopted and five others under review for adoption.

The program received more than 800 applications this year, which adds up to about 3,000 people.

The AFL-CIO office in St. Joseph will be open until at least 5 p.m. today working to get the remaining families adopted.
