(ST. JOSEPH, Mo.) The 21st Annual R. Dan Boulware Convocation on Critical Issues at Missouri Western will highlight the life of Walter Cronkite.

Dr. Douglas Brinkley has been named speaker for the event that will be held Nov. 4, 2014, which would have been Cronkite's 98th birthday.

Dr. Brinkley, a professor of history at Rice University, recently wrote a biography on the St. Joseph native and legendary newsman. "Cronkite" was a New York Times bestseller.

Along with the convocation, Dr. Brinkley will also be the guest of honor at the annual Convocation Luncheon and he will speak at the inaugural Walter Cronkite Conference on Media Ethics and Integrity.

Dr. Brinkley is also a noted biographer. Six of his books have been selected as New York Times "Notable Books of the Year." He is also a contributing editor for "Vanity Fair," "The Los Angeles Times Book Review" and "American Heritage."
