(ST. JOSEPH, Mo.) It's homecoming week for Missouri Western as the football team hosts Northeastern State Saturday.

But before the game arrives, the Griffons took time to spread school spirit Thursday afternoon.

Missouri Western football players, cheerleaders and dancers were at Helen Davis State School meeting with students and taking pictures.

For those wearing black and gold, it was a chance to put smiles on a few faces, and make some new friends.

Redshirt freshman Ben Maciel says it was a humbling experience.

"I got goosebumps over it now. It feels like I scored a touchdown or something amazing just happened. It's life-changing when you come here. I came here expecting a normal day, but it was something different. It was extraordinary."
