(ST. JOSEPH, Mo.) A group of kids took advantage of their day off from school Monday by making candy.

Missouri Western's "Mama Griffs" group invited families to take part in this special day at the Rocky Mountain Chocolate Factory in St. Joseph. The kids made their own chocolates at a dipping station and took part in story time with librarian Will Stuck.

The Mama Griffs are Western alumni and they wanted to do something family-friendly as a community outreach.

"How do we engage parents and their children? This seemed like a perfect opportunity to collaborate with Leslie [Oberg] who is an alum and just bring them to the chocolate factory," said Colleen Kowich, MWSU Director of Alumni Relations.

This is the second year for the event at the Rocky Mountain Chocolate Factory. Even Max Griffon stopped by to take part in the fun.
