(ST. JOSEPH, Mo.) A Buchanan County Sheriff's Department deputy has been honored for her countless hours of work. Deputy Sheriff Sarah Hardin is the Missouri Fraternal Order of Police Member of the Year.

In order to achieve the honor, she used hundreds of hours of her own vacation time to attend Fraternal Order of Police meetings, conferences and events.  Hardin did everything in her power to promote the brotherhood of law enforcement.

"The Fraternal Order of Police is a place where our officers can come and join that brotherhood and sisterhood and work alongside our brothers and sisters to keep law enforcement positive within the community," said Hardin.

Hardin is also the state conference chairwoman.  She's had countless nights of working late setting up conferences and working for the community.
