Althea M. Taylor, 82, St. Joseph, Missouri was called into Glory Sunday, August 17, 2014 at her home.
She was born February 10, 1932 to Ernest and Luella (Sowards) Fultz.
Althea married Crews “Jack” Taylor on December 20, 1975. He preceded her in death in December 1998.
Mrs. Taylor attended Bartlett High School and worked as a housekeeper at the State Hospital for 27 years.
She was a member of St. Francis Baptist Temple. Althea was an avid reader, liked fine dining, and loved doing jigsaw puzzles.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; daughter, Ernestine “Butchie” Howard; sons, Edward “Leroy” and Lawrence “JR.” Howard; step-son, Crews “Jack” Taylor; sister, Addie Lou Fultz; and great-grandchildren, Lauren Howard and Gage M. Koelliker.
Survivors: daughters, Marsha Howard, St. Joseph, Missouri, Bonnie Riley (Steve Woods), Rochester, New York, Rhonda Fitzpatrick (Leotis), Rochester, New York, Donna Howard Robinson (Daniel), Platte City, Missouri, and Luella Howard (Steve Flores), St. Joseph, Missouri; step-daughters, Lois Richardson, Beaumont, Texas and Jean Kyle (Fred), Beaumont, Texas; sisters, Sarah Wash, Lillian Edwards, and Mary Ellen Dalo; 25 grandchildren; 37 great-grandchildren; 5 great-great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews; and special friends, Gwen Massey, Bobbie Black, Roberta Tillman, and Laura Hughes.
Services: 1:00 P.M. Saturday, St. Francis Baptist Temple. Interment Ashland Cemetery. The family will receive friends 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. Friday, Meierhoffer Funeral Home & Crematory. Mrs. Taylor will be removed from Meierhoffer Funeral Home & Crematory to arrive at the church one hour prior to the service.
