He was born August 5, 1928 in Rea, Missouri son of Gladys & Alco Lawyer.
He graduated from Benton high school, served in the Marines during the Korean War, then worked at Burlington Northern in the Track Division retiring after 39 years. He enjoyed wood carving with his pocket knife, painting, playing his guitar and harmonica.
Bernard was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Bette Church. He is survived by his wife, Shirley Lawyer of the home, two daughters, Brenda (Craig) Austin of Nixa, MO and Belinda (Mike) Peters of Belton, MO, grandson, Ryan Klein of Belton, MO, granddaughter, Jessica Klein of Kansas City, MO, sister, Beulah Hendrix of St. Joseph, MO, one, niece and three, nephews.
He will be cremated under the care of the Rupp Funeral Home.
