Caroline Sue "Susie" (Jones) Lawson, 69, passed gracefully from this earth on Saturday, March 8, 2014.

Susie is survived by her husband of 49 years, Dick Lawson, and her daughter, Century Leigh of Las Vegas, brother Jimmie Jones and his wife, Eleanor, and brother Steve Jones and his wife, Alicia, and multiple nephews, nieces, cousins and extended family. Susie was preceded in death by her parents John Paul and Macie E. Jones

Susie was born and raised in south St. Joseph, was Benton's Homecoming Queen, a cheerleader, and a proud member of BHS class of '62, and she attended MWSC. She retired from her job with the Department of Education after 18 years and 9 months of service. She was a member of Order of the Eastern Star, Areme Chapter #461, a 40+ year member of the St. Joseph Outboard Motor & Yacht Club, and a very active, longtime member of South Side Business Women. Susie enjoyed collecting labels to raise money for scholarship funds, and helping the SSBW ladies make cookies and fudge for their annual SweetShop at the South Side Fall Festival.

Susie was a TV, Newspaper, Internet, and Magazine model for Oxy-View glasses. Due to COPD and her need for supplemental oxygen, the information about Oxy-View glasses was a blessing that she was happy to share. She wrote several articles for various COPD publications, exclaiming " I love my Oxy-view glasses!"

Susie's hobbies included boating and camping near the water, tap dancing, and traveling the world cheering on her daughter at ice skating competitions. She loved sparkly things, and quirky silly gadgets.

Services will be 11:00 a.m. Tuesday at Clark-Sampson Funeral Home. Interment will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be after 2 p.m. Monday at the funeral home where family will receive friends from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in Susie's honor to the Order Of The Eastern Star, Areme Chapter #461, Newman Scholarship fund, PO Box 773, St,.Joseph, MO 64502, or to the South Side Business Women Scholarship Fund, 216 W. Colorado Ave, St. Joseph, MO 64504.
