Charlene Shrout, 77, Pinellas Park, Florida, formerly of St. Joseph, Missouri died Thursday, February 6, 2014 at a hospital in Clearwater, Florida.
She was born November 30, 1936 to Mahlon and Eva Kathryn (Perry) Saunders in St. Joseph, Missouri.
She married James Howard Shrout on August 28, 1958. He preceded her in death on January 18, 1999.
Charlene was an Occupational Health Nurse and worked for Northwest Psychology Rehab until she retired in May of 2002.
She continued nursing in her retirement providing help to people in need of in home healthcare. She was a member of the Red Hat Society; Past-President of the Mainland of Tamarac Women’s Club.
She was also preceded in death by her parents; brothers, William “Bill” Saunders, Mahlon “Dean” Saunders and Ronald Saunders.
Survivors: children, Jeff Shrout, Pinellas Park, Florida, Jennie (Shrout) Jennings (Husband James Jr.), St. Joseph, Missouri and son, Michael “Scott” Shrout (Wife Lucinda), New Bloomfield, Missouri; grandchildren, Candice Graves, (Husband Quinten), Excelsior Springs, Missouri, James Jennings III and Theodore “Ted” Shrout; great-grandchildren, Kayden and Gabe Graves; brother, Donald Saunders (Wife Charlene), Burlington Junction, Missouri; and several cousins.
Services: 1:00 P.M. Wednesday, February 12, 2014, Meierhoffer Funeral Home & Crematory. Interment Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will receive friends 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. Tuesday, February 11, 2014, Meierhoffer Funeral Home & Crematory. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made in Charlene’s name to the American Lung Association.
