Daisy Marie Spurgin 77, of Saint Joseph, Missouri passed away Tuesday June 17, 2014 at a Saint Joseph, MO hospital.

She was born October 25, 1936 in Bigelow, Missouri, daughter of Mildred & Homer Landess.

She graduated from Barnard High School, and later from Northwest Missouri State University with a Bachelors degree in education. She retired from Atchison Casting, and Meril as a case manager, she also taught in schools throughout Iowa. She was a lady of many traits, and when told she couldn't do something, she did it anyway and better, she enjoyed coon hunting, raising coon hunting dogs, and training jumping mules. She was a Baptist.

Daisy was preceded in death by her parents, daughter, Pamela Key, two brothers, Rollie Landness, and John Landess, a sister, Lois Stump, and two grandsons, Daniel Key, and Ryan Stout.

She is survived by four sons, Bill (Mary) Blacketer of Saint Joseph, MO, Roger (Cheryl) Blacketer of LaVista, NE, Pat (Cheriann) Blacketer of Bedford, IA, and Steve Blacketer of Fortworth, TX., and two daughters, Vicki (Mike) Wheeler of St. Joseph, MO, and Lorna Fleetwood (Darren) of Corning, IA, three sisters, Lorry Atkins of Clarinda, IA, Patsy Miller of South Carolina, and Doris Hoy of Hopkins, MO. 19, grandchildren, several, great grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held Sunday, June 22, 2014 at 1:00 pm at the American Legion Hall, Bedford, IA. She has been cremated under the care of the Rupp Funeral Home.
