Darrell was born on February 24, 1944 to William Joseph and Joyce (Lancaster) Purdue.
He was preceded in death by his father and brother, Billy Ray Purdue.
He was a graduate of William Jewell College and a member of Kappa Alpha.
He was employed by Sears as a store manager and service tech until his retirement. In the recent years he enjoyed farming, breeding paint horses and leather work.
Survivors: wife, Lynn of the home; son, Darrell G (Jami) Purdue, Kansas City, MO; daughter, Christy (Tom) Clement, Portland, OR; step-son, Rodney (Bonnie) Cates, Lawson, MO; step-daughter, Jessica Cates, Tulsa, OK; sister, Joyce Ann Bice, Jefferson City, TN; mother, Joyce L. Purdue, Jefferson City, TN; 8 grandchildren, Michael, Nathan, Jacob, Sean, Evan, Zac, Bella and Elaina; and leader dog, Zylo.
Service: 7:00 PM, Friday evening, August 8, 2014 at the Kidder United Methodist Church, Kidder. Visitation: 5:30-7:00 PM, prior to the service.
