Dema May Martin, 90, of St. Joseph, passed away Monday, February 17, 2014 at a local health care center.
Dema was born August 18, 1923 to George and Bessie (Spillman) Humbert. She was a Methodist and a lifelong resident of St. Joseph where she graduated from Benton High School. She worked in retail sales and volunteered at Interserv for over 20 years. Dema was a past member of the Eastern Star and loved her animals and spending time with her family. She married Marvin Martin, who preceded her in death in 1967.
Also preceding her in death are her parents, one son, Gene Martin; brothers, George “Buster” and Raymond Humbert and sister, Esther Hanrahan.
Survivors include daughter-in-law, Cheryl Martin; grandchildren, Tara (Jim) Shryock and Gina Martin and her significant other, Jerry Chamberlin; great-grandchildren, Xavier Chamberlin and Katie Shryock; nephews, Mike (Nancy) Hanrahan and John (Phyllis) Humbert and several great nieces and great nephews.
Ms. Martin has been cremated under direction of Clark-Sampson Funeral Home.
Memorial Service will be 3:00 p.m. Friday at Clark-Sampson Funeral Home.
A gathering will be held following the service at 4:00 p.m. at Interserv Calvin Center, 1412 N. 3rd St., St. Joseph.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to Interserv or Hands of Hope Hospice.
