Dolores Ellen (Acord) Reeder, 85, St. Joseph, MO passed from this life on Saturday, August 16, 2014 at Heartland Hospital in St. Joseph. MO. She was born March 2, 1929 in St. Joseph, MO to Ralph Russell and Clara Ellen (Barnes) Reeder. She married William George Reeder on October 21,1949.

Dolores was a schoolteacher for the St Joseph School District for many years. She was a member of the Community Presbyterian Church. Dolores was active in the Young At Heart. She was a lifetime member of the Pony Express Historical Association, a lifetime member of the Gold Star Wives of America and a lifetime member of the Alumni Association at Missouri Western State University. Dolores enjoyed attending performances at the Missouri Theatre, Allied Arts Council and at Missouri Western State University. She loved feeding her birds and taking care of her cat. Dolores loved to sew, make quilts and she could patch a pair of blue jeans like no one else. She and William were a part of the Road Runners Camping Club and the Promenaders Square Dancing Club. Dolores loved boating on the Missouri River with her family. She was loved by many and will be missed by all.

Survivors include; two sons, Kenneth William Reeder, St. Joseph, MO, Kyle Russell (Cindy) Fawn Reeder, Savannah, MO; one sister, Ruth Ann (Acord) Schwader, St. Joseph, MO; three grandchildren, April Dawn (Reeder) and Eric Griffin, Springfield, MO, Spenser Kyle (Jessica) Reeder, Savannah, MO and Quinn Cole Reeder, St. Joseph, MO; one great-granddaughter, Zoie Rayne Kohler; one brother-in-law, Richard (Evaline) Reeder, Seattle WA; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, William George Reeder; one brother, Kenneth Russell Acord; and her mother-in-law, Inez Beatrice (Hughes) Reeder.

Celebration of Life will be 1:00 PM Saturday, August 23, 2014 at Community Presbyterian Church in St. Joseph, MO. Interment will be in Savannah Cemetery, Savannah, MO. Public visitation and family receiving hours will be 6 to 8 PM Friday August 22, 2014 at Community Presbyterian Church in St. Joseph, MO. Breit - Hawkins Funeral Home is in charge of local arrangements.
