Donald G. “Toby” Herman, 84, formerly of Weston, MO passed away Tuesday, May 20, 2014 at North Kansas City Hospital.

A visitation, with Masonic services will be held 10:00 – 11:00 a.m., Saturday, May 24, 2014 at Vaughn Funeral Home in Weston; followed by an 11:00 a.m. funeral service, at the funeral home. Interment will follow at the Pleasant Ridge Cemetery in Weston.

The family suggests contributions be given to the charity of one’s choice.

Toby was born October 15, 1929 to Joseph Gerald and Emma Grace (Mauzey) Herman.

He was a lifelong resident of the Weston area, and a member of the United Methodist Church of Weston. Toby spent many years as a farmer in the Missouri River Bottoms of Weston. He also worked for TWA in Kansas City; retiring as a security guard in 1984. Toby currently served as V.P. for the board of directors of Crackerneck Country Club in Independence, MO. He was also a member of the Masonic Lodge A.F. & A.M., #53 of Weston.

He was preceded in death by: his parents; his wife Helen Louise Herman; his daughter and son in law Vicky and Stephen Stelljes; his daughter Patricia Flanagan; his brother Joseph Herman; and his great granddaughter Angel Lynn.

Toby is survived by: his daughters Dona (Cecil) Johnston of Bedford, IA, and Cheryl (Stephen) Boos of Excelsior Springs, MO; his son Terry (Cheryl) Wright of Weston; his companion Jean Herman of Bedford; 11 grandchildren Kent, Katie, Richard, Shawn, Ronnie, Byran, Kaleb, Jennifer, Terra, Samantha, and Misty; 3 great grandchildren Daire, Drake, and Emmajean Lynn; and 26 step great grandchildren.
