She was born June 17, 1921 in Savannah, Missouri to John and Ura (Courtney) Reece. Dorothy lived her entire life in Andrew County and Savannah, MO.
She graduated from Savannah High School in 1940. Dorothy was a Christian and a member of the First Presbyterian Church, Savannah, MO. She was employed at several places throughout her life. Dorothy worked at Dray Drug Store, Noma Lites, Lee Garment Company of St. Joseph, MO, and managed a car wash and Laundromat attendant in Savannah for 8 years.
Dorothy married William “Wig” Raymond Nicholas on October 5, 1944 at the First Presbyterian Church in Savannah, Missouri and he preceded her in death on April 3, 2006.
Survivors include a son, William “Bill” Ray Nicholas (Linda); daughter, Christy Kay Cook both of Savannah, MO; sister, Joyce Roberts (Bob), Rea, MO; brother, Frank Reece, Savannah, MO; three, grandchildren, Stacy Kay Nicholas, Shawnee, KS, Kimberley Rene Nicholas, Savannah, MO, Taylor William Mitchell, St. Joseph, MO; and four great grandchildren, Trevor William, Makayla, Alexis, and Emarie.
Dorothy was also preceded in death by her parents, John and Ura; four brothers; three sisters; and one grandchild, Paul Dale Nicholas.
Celebration of Life: 10:00 AM Saturday, April 26, 2014 at Breit-Hawkins Funeral Home, Savannah, Missouri. Interment in Savannah, Missouri Cemetery. Public visitation and family receiving hours 5 to 7 PM Friday at the Funeral Home. Memorials are suggested to the American Diabetes Association.
