Douglas was born on October 22, 1929 in Bendena, Kansas to Robert A. & Corinne M. (Hautzenrader) Ruhnke. He was born & raised in Bendena, Kansas, later moved to Troy where he was part owner of the International Harvestor Dealership. After he sold his interest in the dealership he owned & operated the NAPA Auto Parts Store until his retirement in 1998.
Douglas was a member of the St. John’s Lutheran Church in Bendena, Kansas.
He married Florence Albers on April 15, 1949 in Lawrence, Kansas. She preceded him in death on August 25, 2011. Douglas was also preceded by his parents, son, Wayne & brother, Darwin R. Ruhnke.
Survivors include his children, Rosa Madison of Troy, Kansas; Arlen F. (Barb) Ruhnke of Long Island, Kansas; 7 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren;sister, Wilma (Bill) Oltjen of Kansas City, Kansas; nieces & nephews.
FUNERAL: Sunday, March 16, 2014 - 2:00 P.M.
Burial: Moray Cemetery in Moray, Kansas
Visitation: family will receive friends Saturday 6-8 P.M. at the Harman Rohde Funeral Home in Troy, Kansas where friends may call after 12noon Saturday.
