Ella June Vanfossan, 88, of St. Joseph, passed away, Wednesday, June 25, 2014 at Living Community of St. Joseph.
Born June 28, 1925 in Kimball, South Dakota, daughter of Gertrude (Smith) and Thomas J. Mizar, Sr.
She was preceded in death by her parents, first husband, Donald J. Naberhaus, 2 sisters, Madeline Witt and Marcella Estes, 1 brother, Thomas Mizar, 2nd Husband, Kermit Vanfossan and step-daughter, Mavis Sharp.
She graduated from Benton High School, worked at Quaker Oats for 3 years and Naberhaus Grocery for 6 years. She was a homemaker who loved bowling, her daily crossword puzzles, but most of all, being outdoors working in her yard. She was a member of Wyatt Park Christian Church.
She is survived by daughter, Janice (Jerry) Hurst, grandchildren, C.J. (Lynette) Hurst and Craig Hurst, great-granddaughter, Wynter Hurst, step-daughter, Connie (Bruce) Taylor, 8 step-grandchildren and numerous step-great-grandchildren. She will be dearly missed by all who loved her.
Services 10:30 AM Saturday, June 28, 2014 at Horigan Chapel at Mount Olivet Cemetery under the direction of Heaton-Bowman-Smith & Sidenfaden Chapel. Interment Mount Olivet Cemetery.
