Ernest “Ernie” A. Meyer, 95, St. Joseph; passed away Tuesday, April 22, 2014 at a local hospital.

Ernie was born on March 7, 1919 in Clyde, MO to the late Peter and Agatha (Wolfer) Meyer.

Mr. Meyer served in the US Army during WWII from 1941-1945. He worked as a carpenter and was a member of Carpenter’s Local #110 for 40 years.

Ernie was a member St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church, American Legion #359 and Eagles Lodge. He was an avid hunter and fisherman.

Ernie married the former Florence Wilson on June 6, 1949 in Maryville, MO. She survives of the home.

Additional Survivors; 6 daughters, Norma (Ralph) Wilson, Maitland, MO; Carol Ousley, Douglas, WY; Jane Meyer, Linda Meyer, Diana (Wes) Johnson and Janet Davis all of St. Joseph; 12 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren; 2 sisters, Mildred Meyer, Maryville, MO and Dorothy Wilmes, Bolckow, MO.

He was preceded in death by 3 sisters, Marie Funderburk, Frances Nielson and Catherine Nielson; brother, Paul Meyer; grandson, Dominic Ousley and great-granddaughter, Sydney Siepel

Mass of Memorialization 1:30 PM Saturday, April 26, 2014 at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church. Inurnment Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation after 9:00 AM Friday at Heaton-Bowman-Smith & Sidenfaden Chapel. Rosary 7:00 PM Friday; the family will receive friends following the Rosary until 8:30 PM.

Memorial donations may be made to VA Hospital of Leavenworth, KS.
