Florence Stewart “Billie” Vories, 88, St. Joseph, Missouri died Wednesday, June 4, 2014 at her home.
She was born on May 11, 1926 to Edwin Holmes “Jack” and Eva Lindley Stewart in St. Joseph, Missouri, where she has been a resident all her life.
She graduated from Central High School, attended Ward-Belmont College in Nashville, Tennessee, Northwestern College in Evanston, Illinois and graduated from the University of Missouri in Columbia, Missouri with a B.A. degree. She was a member of Delta Delta Delta social sorority.
Florence was employed with the St. Joseph State Hospital for thirty–two years as a psychiatric social worker until she retired in 1988. She was also a life-long member of Christ Episcopal Church and served on the Altar Guild more than twenty-five years. Florence was devoted to her pets and a friend to all animals.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and her sister, Patricia Stewart Rogers.
