Fred passed away Wednesday, June 4, 2014 at the Missouri Veterans’ Home in Cameron, Missouri at the age of 65.

He was born in Ironton, Missouri to Frank G. Knapp and Ruth (Bryant) Knapp.

He spent his life in the United States Air Force where his journeys took him to: Texas, Oklahoma, Thailand, Vietnam, Whiteman AFB, Missouri, Cheyenne Mountain, Colorado, Washington, D.C., Taiwan, Offutt AFB, Nebraska, Sunnyvale, California, Las Cruces, New Mexico, and then military retirement.

After that, he returned to Sunnyvale working for Lockheed Martin, which he retired from, then moved back to the state of Missouri. he was a member of Huffman United Methodist Church.

After Vietnam, he met Glenna Springs and they were married in 1970 at the Patee Park Baptist Church.

He is preceded in death by his father, step-mother and several aunts and uncles.

Fred is survived by his wife, and daughter, Tabitha, and husband, Rodney Peterson, of Northmoor, Missouri; his mother Ruth and step-father, Bill Lynch, St. Joseph; siblings, Mike (Zulima) Knapp, Cheryl (David) Stewart and David (Temie) Lehman with several nieces and nephews and 4 step-sisters. He will be missed by many friends and family.

Services 10:00 AM Monday, June 9, 2014 at Heaton-Bowman-Smith & Sidenfaden Chapel.
Interment Leavenworth National Cemetery, Leavenworth, Kansas.

Visitation will begin after 9:00 AM Sunday at our chapel, where the family will receive friends from 5:00 to 7:00 PM Sunday evening.

The family suggests memorial contributions to Carriage Square Health Care Center, Missouri Veterans’ Home or Huffman United Methodist Church.
