Garland was born on November 25, 1927 in Tipton, Missouri to Urban and Helena (Knipp) Bestgen.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Helen; 2 sons, Jim and Bob; 3 brothers and 1 sister.
Garland was a member of St. Munchin Catholic Church, Cameron, former member of Knights of Columbus; member of MLICA and a volunteer at the Cameron Food Pantry. He owned and operated Bestgen & Son Construction for many years, before retiring.
Survivors: Son, Jerry (Sheryl) Bestgen, Osborn, MO; Daughter, Joyce Bestgen, Cameron; 5 grandchildren, Jared, Wesley, Zach, Nick and Katie.
Mass of Christian Burial: 10:00AM, Wednesday, February 26, 2014 at St. Munchin Catholic Church, Cameron. Rosary, 6:00 PM, Tuesday, Feb. 25, 2014 with visitation following from 6:30-8:30 PM at the church. Burial: St. Munchin Catholic Cemetery, Cameron. Memorial donations to the St. Munchin Catholic Church and/or the Cameron Food Pantry. Arrangements by Poland-Thompson Funeral Home, Cameron, MO.
