Garold William Hoffelmeyer, 92, St. Joseph, MO passed from this life on Wednesday, June 25, 2014 at Heartland Hospital, St. Joseph, MO. He was born June 17, 1922 to Carl and Pearl (Vetter) Hoffelmeyer.

Garold served in the U.S. Army from December 1942 until November 1945. He was in the China-Burma-India Theater.

Garold married Clara V. Bowland on August 10, 1947. He was a farmer, a member of the United Methodist Church, Amazonia, MO, a member of the VFW, served 3 terms on the Savannah RIII school board, and taught woodworking to 4-H Kids.

He is preceded in death by one daughter, Kathleen Hoffelmeyer; his parents; one brother, Carl Frank Hoffelmeyer, Jr.; and one sister, Eleanor Hoffelmeyer. Survivors include his wife Clara V., of the home; two daughters and son-in-laws, Roberta and Charles Polley, Platte City, MO, Patricia and Donald Devine, St. Joseph, MO., and one granddaughter, Kenzie Polley.

Celebration Of Life will be held at 10:00 AM Tuesday, July 1, 2014 at the Savannah Methodist Church in Savannah, MO. Visitation with family receiving friends from 5 – 7 PM, Monday, June 30, 2014 at Breit-Hawkins Funeral Home in Savannah, MO. Memorial donations are suggested to the American Heart Association.
