George Lester Black, 59, of Oregon, Missouri passed away, Thursday, May 29, 2014 at Cameron Regional Medical Center following a gallant battle with ALS.
George grew up in Oregon, Missouri; where he attended school at South Holt and then went on to earn his Bachelor’s degree of Social Psychology from Midwest Christian College in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma and his Master’s from Midwest Baptist Seminary in Kansas City, Missouri.
George was a youth Minister in Texas before starting to work for HUD as a Grant Management Specialist in Texas and Arizona.
George enjoyed traveling, living on a houseboat in Arizona, water skiing, visiting with people, spending time with his brother, and being with family.
George is preceded in death by his parents, Wilbert Wayne Black and Georgia Wianonia Black and grandparents, George and Cleta Pullen, all of Oregon, Missouri.
Survivors: brother, Stephen (Julia) Black, of Agency, Missouri; sister, Carolyn Sue Corwin and partner, Bruce Gillette, of Council Bluffs, Iowa; nieces and nephews, Abraham (Heather) Black and sons, Aiden and Garrett, Faucett, Missouri; Caleb Black and Kati Reys, Agency, Missouri; Jennifer Black, Overland Park, Kansas; Erica Corwin and Corey Roal, Lincoln, Nebraska; Melissa (Tim) Toberer, Omaha, Nebraska; Uncle, Mack (Margaret Ann) Pullen, Arvada, Colorado; aunt, Evelyn (Jerry) Kurtz, Forest City, Missouri; aunt, Neva Davis, St. Joseph, Missouri; aunt, Ruby Stahl, St. Louis, Missouri and several cousins.
George has been cremated under the direction of Heaton-Bowman-Smith & Sidenfaden Chapel. A Memorial Service will be held at a later date. A register book will be available for signing at our chapel.
The family suggests memorial contributions to the ALS Society or Hospice Care.
