George Richard Silcott, 82, St. Joseph, MO

George Richard Silcott, 82, of St. Joseph, MO, passed away Saturday, August 23, 2014 at a local medical center.

George was born November 3, 1931 in St. Joseph, MO to James and Leota (Newland) Silcott.  On November 4, 1950 he married Etta Jane Mason, she passed away January 5, 2014.  He worked as an electrician, Auto Salesman, Insurance Salesman and was an owner operator of a residential care center.  He was a member of the Maxwell Heights Presbyterian Church as well as the Eagles and Elks Clubs.         George enjoyed auctions, playing cards, bowling, golf and playing Fast Pitch Softball.  He and his wife were also a host family for the St. Joe Saints baseball team.

Mr. Silcott was also preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Lee Ann Silcott; brothers Floyd, James and Norman Silcott; sisters, Mildred Taylor and Naomi Dotson; granddaughter, Jennifer Pistole.

He is survived by his children, Maribeth (Tom) McKee, Callahan, FL, Ross (Carol) Silcott, Chris (Diana) Silcott and Dawn Hickman (Rob Campbell), of St. Joseph, MO; sisters Lorene Rainez and Joan Butler of St. Joseph, MO; 12 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren, a great-grandchild on the way and several nieces and nephews.  He truly loved to play with and tease grandchildren.

Services will be held at 11:00am Thursday at the Heaton-Bowman-Smith and Sidenfaden Chapel in St. Joseph, MO.  Interment Memorial Park Cemetery.  Visitation will begin after 9:00am Wednesday at the chapel where the family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00pm Wednesday evening
