Gertrude Marie Beaver 88, of Saint Joseph, MO passed away Wednesday, April 30, 2014 in a Saint Joseph, MO hospital.

She was born January 20, 1926 in St. Joseph, MO, daughter of Mary and Otto Jahnke.

She graduated from Convent of the Sacred Heart in 1944, then married Robert Beaver Sr on October 8, 1946 at St. Mary's Catholic Church in St. Joseph, they shared 67 years together.

She was a homemaker who was very active in the community and school activities, as a lifetime member of the PTA, a founding member of the Safety Town safety council, board member of the Clarence Carpenter fund with the PTA, the American Legion auxiliary post #359, the South Side Business Women's club, the St. James Altar Society, and a member of St. James Catholic Church.

Gertrude was preceded in death by her parents, a sister, Josephine Squyers, three brothers, Tony Jahnke, Jim Jahnke, and Robert Jahnke, and a grandson, Austin.

Survivors include husband, Robert Beaver Sr. of the home, five children: Robert Beaver Jr, and wife Ronnie of St. Joseph, MO, Cecilia Daniels and husband Mat of Auburn, NE, Madeleine Steele and Gary Cunningham Steele of St. Joseph, MO, Chris Beaver and wife Cyndi, and Denise Mereness and husband Matt of St. Joseph, MO, 10, grandchildren, 15, great grandchildren, several nieces, nephews & friends.

The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, May 5, 2014, at 11:00 am at the St. James Catholic Church, Father Evan Harkins Celebrant. The Rosary will be recited at 4:30 pm, Sunday at the Rupp Funeral Home with the family receiving friends from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM. Interment will be at the Mount Olivet Cemetery . Memorials are requested to the Camp Quality, Special Olympics, Clarence Carpenter Fund (PTA Council), Safety Town (Safety Council) or a charity of the donors choice.
