Helen L. (Bauman) Pennington, 96, St. Joseph, Missouri died Thursday, July 10, 2014 at Heartland Regional Medical Center.
She was born July 31, 1917 to Robert and Mamie (Allen) Estep in St. Joseph, Missouri.
Helen graduated from the University of Missouri with a Master’s in Education. She taught for almost forty years including the schools at Winston, Graham, Union Star and lastly in St. Joseph at Lafayette and Central High Schools. She retired in 1977, but still tutored up until the age of 95.
She was a member of Huffman Memorial United Methodist Church, PEO, Runcie Club and A.A.U.W.
Mrs. Pennington was preceded in death by her parents; first husband, David Eppright; second husband, R. J. Bauman; third husband, Merle Pennington; and brothers, Leland Estep and his wife Inez and Laverne Estep and his wife Eva.
Survivors: son, David Bauman and his wife Peggy; niece, Sue Estep; and nephews, Donald and Jay and his wife Jan Estep.
Services: 10:00 A.M. Monday, Huffman Memorial United Methodist Church. Interment Union Star Cemetery. The family will receive friends 2:00 to 4:00 P.M. Sunday and 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. Sunday, Meierhoffer Funeral Home & Crematory, where friends may call after 12:00 Noon Sunday. Mrs. Pennington will be removed from Meierhoffer Funeral Home & Crematory to arrive at the church one hour prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Huffman Memorial United Methodist Church.
