James D. Seiber, 70, passed away Wednesday, May 7, 2014 at his home in Platte City, MO. A visitation will be held 10:00 – 11:00 a.m., Friday, May 16, 2014 at Rollins Funeral Home in Platte City; followed by an 11:00 a.m. memorial service, at the funeral home. Inurnment, with military honors, will follow at the Leavenworth National Cemetery in Leavenworth, KS.

The family suggests contributions be given to The American Cancer Society, or American Diabetes Association. Jim was born September 17. 1943 in Athens, Ohio to James Henry and Beulah Mae (Shields) Seiber.

He was raised in Chauncey, OH, where he was a 1961 graduate of the Chauncey Dover High School. Jim served his country during the Vietnam Conflict in the U.S. Army, earning the Bronze Star Award of Merit. He later lived in Lincoln, NE, Camden Point, MO, and for the last 3 years, Platte City.

Jim married Sharon Kay Gender on May 2, 2009 in Golden, CO.

He retired as a field technician for Embarq, in 2008. Jim was of the Christian faith; enjoyed caring for his automobiles, collecting hats, and was an avid fan of Ohio State University Buckeye’s football.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a daughter Peggi Jo Seiber.

Jim is survived by: his wife Sharon, of the home; his daughter Jill (Michael) Bean of Albany, OH; 2 sisters Deborah Ingledue of Lewisville, TX, and Jennifer Lynn (Steve) Mender of Amesville, OH; 3 grandchildren Drew (Melissa) White, Alyson (Sarah) Collins-White, and Tyler White; 1 great grandson Nolan White; step children Heather (Casey) Frost, Leasa (Dean) Foster, Doug Yagel, Mike Oliver and Chris Koch; step grandchildren Dustin and Zach Pritchard, and Michelle Frost; 3 nieces; 1 nephew; 4 great nieces; 1 great nephew; numerous step great grandchildren; and his special lifelong friend Bela Ray Kastely.
