James Wesley Adams, 72, St. Joseph, Missouri died Tuesday, August 12, 2014 at Heartland Regional Medical Center.
He was born May 13, 1942 to D Willis and Gladys (Nett) Adams in Springfield, Missouri.
He married Rhonda Sue Whittington on April 1, 1985. She survives of the home.
Wes was a 1960 graduate from Lafayette High School and attended St. Joseph Junior College.
He worked for Continental Can for twelve years and Johnson Controls for twenty-seven years as a machine operator retiring in 2000. Wes was a member of Grace Evangelical Church where he took mission trips to Honduras and was part of the Joplin Tornado relief. He was also a fifty year member of Eagle’s Lodge 49.
He cooked monthly for the Valley Food Kitchen and loved camping, fishing, canoeing and excelled at basketball in high school and college. He enjoyed playing sports especially bowling and softball. He also enjoyed spending time with his senior gang of motorcycle riders, where they took trips to both coasts.
Mr. Adams was preceded in death by his parents; son, Stephen Mitchell Adams; sister, Wilma Fern; and beloved pet dog, Kricket.
Additional Survivors: son, Scott Wesley Adams; grandsons, Mitchell Scott Adams and Nicholas Ray Adams; sister, Carolyn Caton (Rick), all of St. Joseph, Missouri; and several nieces and nephews.
Services: 10:00 A.M. Thursday, Grace Evangelical Church. Interment Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will receive friends 5:00 to 7:00 P.M. Wednesday, Meierhoffer Funeral Home & Crematory.
