John Crnic, Sr., 93 passed away peacefully on June 7, 2014 at his home in Platte City, MO.

John was born in Darragh, PA on February 2, 1921, the son of Frank and Mary Crnic.

After graduation from the Pittsburg School of Aeronautics, John worked as a mechanic at the Washington National Airport. He also attended classes at the University of Delaware. He was called into the armed forces to support the TWA Intercontinental Division Air Transport Command. He was a flight engineer for this operation in the early 1940’s flying to South America, Europe, Africa and the Far East. He moved to Kansas City and worked at the TWA Overhaul Base.

In 1955 he met and married his wife Joan.

He continued to work at TWA until his retirement in 1982. He ventured into farming, raising sheep and later cattle. Later in life he enjoyed playing the stock market as well as golf. John developed chronic lymphoid leukemia and handled each stage of his condition with courage. He was an exceptional husband and father and had many friends. He also had a strong empathy for other’s opinions.

John is preceded in death by his oldest son John, Jr.

He is survived by Joan, his wife of 59 years; children Jan Miller and husband Mike, Guy Crnic, Paul Crnic and wife Jacquelyn, Patty Homeyer and husband Rob, daughter-in-law Melanie Crnic. Grandchildren include Amanda Crnic, Scott Miller and wife Rebecca, Sara Miller, Knut-Henrik Brower, and Adam Homeyer.

A private family graveside memorial will be held 2:00 p.m., Monday, June 9, 2014 at Holy Angels Cemetery in Basehor, KS. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions be given to Northcare Hospice. Arrangements By: Rollins Funeral Home—Platte City, MO.
