John P. Adams, 89, St. Joseph, Missouri died Friday, July 4, 2014 at the Missouri Veterans Home in Cameron, Missouri.
He was born January 4, 1925 to Leo and Laura (Ozeberger) Adams in St. Joseph, Missouri.
He married Betty Lee Morrison on March 24, 1954. She preceded him in death on July 8, 2011.
John proudly served in the United States Army Air Corp and was a veteran of World War II. He was a member of Frederick Boulevard Baptist Church where he was a lifetime member and deacon.
Mr. Adams received his Master’s Degree from the University of Missouri. He was a school teacher and taught at North Andrew, Union Star, then later retired from Lafayette High School after thirty years of teaching.
He was also preceded in death by his parents; and two brothers, Leo H. Adams, Jr. and Walter E. Adams.
Survivors: son, John D. Adams (Donna), St. Joseph, Missouri; daughter, April A. Heslinga (Chris), Smithville, Missouri; five grandchildren, Amberly Heslinga, Adam Heslinga, Charla May, David Beaird and Brandon Beaird; two great-grandchildren, Gavin and Chloe; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Services: 10:00 A.M. Wednesday, Frederick Boulevard Baptist Church. Interment Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will receive friends 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. Tuesday, Meierhoffer Funeral Home & Crematory. Mr. Adams will be removed from Meierhoffer Funeral Home & Crematory to arrive at the church one hour prior to the service. The family suggests memorial gifts to Frederick Boulevard Baptist Church.
