John Wesley Gream, aka “Captain Jon Scorpio” passed away Thursday, February 20, 2014 at the St. Joseph Medical Center of Kansas City, MO.

Following cremation, a memorial service will be held 1:30 p.m., Monday, February 24, 2014 at the First Baptist Church of Platte City, MO. The family suggests contributions be given to the First Baptist Church of Platte City.

John was born November 6, 1967 in East St. Louis, MO to William Joseph and Mary Lee (Dewitt) Gream.

John was a graduate of Century High School in Bismarck, ND. Afterwards, he lived in Dickinson, ND for around 10 years before moving to the Platte City area, where he’s lived for the last 12 years. John was of the Baptist faith, and worked as a security guard for First Line Security, at the Kansas City International Airport. John’s favorite pastime was participating in the Renaissance Festival as “Captain Jon Scorpio”.

He was preceded in death by his maternal and paternal grandparents.

John is survived by: his parents Bill and Mary Gream of Platte City; 2 sons Joseph Duncan and James Wesley Gream of Dickenson, ND; 3 sisters Tam Lynn of Key West, FL, Judith Ann (Jimmy) Oberholser of Des Moines, IA, and Kristi Lee (Kevin) Black of San Diego, CA; and numerous nieces, nephews, and friends.
