Marcian J. “Marci” O’Meara, 81, St. Joseph, Missouri; passed away Wednesday, June 4, 2014 at her home surrounded by her loving family. She is now with the Lord.

Marci was born on February 7, 1933 in St. Joseph, Missouri to Franklin and Mary (Jilge) Fisher. She attended Convent of the Sacred Heart and graduated from Central High School in 1951.

Marci was a unit secretary with St. Joseph Hospital (Sisters) and transferred with the move to Heartland Regional Medical Center from where she retired.

On August 28, 1954, Marci married Gerald James “Jim” O’Meara. This union was graced with three loving children. Marci and Jim were married for 20 years.

Marci enjoyed gardening, camping, fishing and watching movies. She enjoyed nature and all animals, but especially her dogs. Mostly, she loved spending time with her beloved family.

She was sustained in life by her love of the Lord and was a lifelong member of St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church. She will live in the hearts of her family through her legacy of love and faith.

Marci was preceded in death by her parents, one sister, Maxine Sonnenberg, three brothers, Leonard and George Fisher and an infant brother.

Survivors include her three children, Susanne (Gregg) Mrkvicka; Joseph (Sheila) O’Meara; Lorie (Danny) Butterfield; sister, Charlotte Koenig; eight grandchildren, Nicole (O’Meara) McWilliams, Ryan O’Meara, Melissa Barr, Kristin (Pashik) Ash, Tiffany (Pashik) Harman, Samantha Pashik, Matthan Mrkvicka, Tanner Butterfield, and eleven great-grandchildren.

Marci will remain in our hearts forever as one who loved us all, regardless of our short comings and misdirections, and the love of her family has gone with her to heaven.

Mass of Christian Burial 10:00 AM Monday, June 9, 2014 at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church. Interment Mt. Olivet Cemetery. Open visitation will be held after 12:00 noon Sunday at the Heaton-Bowman-Smith & Sidenfaden Chapel, and a Rosary will be held 6:00pm that evening. The family will receive friends following the rosary until 8pm.

Memorial donations may be made to the St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church Building Fund.
