Mary Ann (Beaufort) Miller, 88, of St. Joseph, passed away Tuesday, March 4, 2014 at a local health care center.
Mary Ann was born April 15, 1925 in St. Joseph, Missouri to William and Catherine (Seifert) Beaufort. She graduated from the Convent of the Sacred Heart in 1943. She worked for Joe Optican Jewelry and retired as the Office Manager after 40 plus years.
She married George C. Miller July 5, 1974 at St. Patrick’s Church in St. Joseph; he passed away in 1998. She is also preceded in death by her parents and brother William Beaufort.
Mary Ann was a kind, optimistic, fun person who will be missed by all who knew her. She was particularity close to her nieces and nephews. When they were small she took them to the movies, swimming, and on occasional “toy buying trips” to Kansas City or Omaha by bus or train. As the nieces and nephews had their own children and grandchildren, they too enjoyed Mary Ann’s kindness and attention, seldom leaving her home without a dollar to spend.
Mary Ann and George were devoted Catholics and members of St. Patrick’s Church. They assisted with the Mexican Fiesta, and were generous with donations for church or school updates. Mary Ann was particularly kind to the priests who served the parish, and became a close and supportive friend to several.
Mrs. Miller is survived by her sister C. Berenice Clisbee, St. Joseph, MO, and nieces and nephews, Charles, John and Bill Clisbee, Ann LaFollette, Carol Black, Theresa Wood, Mary Beaufort and Danny Beaufort.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Friday, March 7, 2014 at 1:00PM at St. Patrick Catholic Church. A Rosary will be recited at 6:00PM Thursday at the Heaton-Bowman-Smith and Sidenfaden Chapel. The family will receive friends from 5:00-8:00pm at the chapel.
The family suggests memorial contributions to a charity of the donor’s choice.
