Michelle Lark Byers, 50, St. Joseph, MO, formerly of Spencer, Iowa, passed away July 15, 2014 in St. Joseph, Missouri.

Michelle was born on April 13, 1964 to Richard and Judy Minnick in Spencer, Iowa.

She graduated from Spencer High School in 1982 and was married to Scott Byers on August 20, 1982.

She gave birth to Devon Charles in 1985 and then to Samantha Lynn in 1986.

Shortly after they followed the family business to St. Joseph, Missouri where they built their home and raised their family. Over the next several years she was involved in the Chamber of Commerce, St. Joseph Tourism Board, and Allied Arts. Together with her sister, Robin Dailey, she ran Park Floral for ten years where she had an extrodinary eye for beauty in flowers and event decorating. She was diagnosed with Lupus in 1996, but refused to let it keep her from being involved with her children. She was the "Soccer Mom" in the green car to so many, sitting with the giant umbrella and hopeful smile. She was part of an amazing team at Earl May Nursery before she was diagnosed with a brain lymphoma in November of 2013. Her physical body could not keep up with the demands of her courageous and determined heart. She left this world at home, surrounded by an extrodinary amount of love from family and friends. She will be remembered by so many as a woman of strength and kindness, driven by love for her family and faith in people. She was a true currier of Grace for God in every sense of the word.

She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Don & Thelma Minnick of St. Joseph, MO and Marvon & Elsie Miller of Spencer, IA and Walt & Evelyn Hughes of Milford, IA and Dale & Verly Byers of Lake Park, IA; and Brother Brian Byers of Terril, IA; and Brother-in-law Jeff Dailey of St. Joseph, MO.

Michelle is survived by her parents, Rick and Judy Minnick; husband, Scott Byers; Son, Devon (Claudine) Byers; Daughter, Samantha (Micah) Mitchell; Grandchildren, Riane, Corbin, Ridge, and Sophie. Sister, Robin Dailey. Her in laws Kenneth and Marvel Byers; Brother in-laws, Mark (Karen) Byers, Kent Byers, Sister-in-law, Diane (Jeff) Duis all of the Lakes Region of Northwest Iowa, and many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, extended family, and dear friends.

Funeral service will be held at The Edge Christian Fellowship, 2501 S. Belt Hwy, St. Joseph, Missouri, on July 18, 2014 at 10:30. Pastor Jim Morgan officiating. Visitation will be held at Rupp Funeral Home in St. Joseph, Missouri on July 17, 2014 from 6:00 - 8:00 P.M.
