Mildred M. “Millie” Howard, 101, St. Joseph, Missouri passed away Saturday, March 22, 2014 at a local healthcare facility.
She was born March 17, 1913 to Frank and Dora (Meng) Sinker in Wathena, Kansas.
She married Russell Bernard Howard. He preceded her in death in 1988.
Millie graduated from Wathena High School in 1930. She retired in 1999 after 60 years from her Beauty Shop, Cottage Curl. She was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church.
Mildred enjoyed gardening, sewing, quilting, cooking. She walked up to four miles a day and mowed her yard into her 90’s. She was affectionately known as “Monday Granny” by her grandchildren and will be greatly missed by her family.
She was also preceded in death by her parents; son, Frank Charles Howard; five sisters, Edna Bird, Ethel Chapel, Dorothy Hillberry, Grace Narvett and Frankie Gutzman; brother, Henry Sinker; and three nieces, Kay, Sharon and Lila.
Survivors: daughter-in-law, Donna Howard; grandchildren, Stacey Bradford (Chad) and Shawn Howard (Lori); great-grandchildren, Colby Bradford, Cade Bradford, Amanda York, Bryan York, Scott Howard and Tichota Howard; one great-great-granddaughter, Ta’Riah Hansborough; a niece, Frankie Perry; and a nephew, Larry Gutzman.
