Richard “Dick” D. Chambers, 84, Savannah, MO; passed away peacefully at his home on Tuesday, July 8, 2014.

Dick was born on June 25, 1930 in Andrew County, MO to Early and Katherine (McDowell) Chambers.

Mr. Chambers served in the U.S. Army from 1948 to 1950 and in The Korean Conflict in 1950. He also served in the Army Reserve until 1954. Dick worked at Dugdale Packing Co. for 21 years. He also worked as a skilled carpenter and was a delivery driver for Miller-Murphy Casket Co., retiring in 1986. He was a member of Community Presbyterian Church, since 1956, where he served as Deacon and Elder. Dick was a former member of Swiss Pairs and Squares Square Dance Club.

Dick married Beverly (Scotty) Scott on September 15, 1954 in Troy, KS, she survives of the home.

Additional survivors include a son Mike (Rita) Chambers, Eldon, MO; and three daughters, Tina DeHart, Savannah, MO; Michele Marcum, Boise, ID and Dana (John) Ceglenski, Savannah, MO; 7 grandchildren, 9 great-grandchildren, sister, Norma Trites, St. Joseph, MO and numerous nieces and nephews.

Dick was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Edward Chambers.

Mr. Chambers has been cremated under the direction of the Heaton-Bowman-Smith & Sidenfaden Chapel. A Memorial Service for family and friends will be held at 4:00 PM on Saturday, July 12, 2014 at Community Presbyterian Church, 5409 St. Joseph Ave.

All those attending are invited to stay for fellowship and dinner as part of the celebration. There will be no formal funeral service.
