Robert Darrell DeShon, 79, St. Joseph, Missouri passed peacefully in his home surrounded by his loving family Thursday, June 19, 2014.
He was born June 8, 1935 to Melvin Harrison DeShon and Grace Pauline (Barnett) DeShon in Stewartsville, Missouri.
He married Doris Faye Reno on June 12, 1987. She survives of the home.
Mr. DeShon served 25 years as a firefighter for the City of St. Joseph and owned his own trucking business from 1970 to 2003. He was a member of Eagles Lodge #49.
Robert enjoyed hunting, fishing, and restoring and collecting antique classic cars.
He was preceded in death by his parents; granddaughter, Crystal Payne; and brother-in-law, William Watkins.
Survivors: wife; daughters, Julie Pankau, Pineville, Missouri, Vickie Howard (Ron), Toni Osborn, Tami Payne, and Connie Capps (Gerald) all of St. Joseph, Missouri; sons, Randy DeShon (Melanie), Admire, Kansas, Robert DeShon, and Ricky DeShon (Kathleen), both of St. Joseph, Missouri; step-daughter, Michelle Wilson, St. Joseph, Missouri; 22 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; 4 beloved cats, Trash Can, Trouble, Nosey Rosey, and Cuddles; brothers, Melvin DeShon (Marilyn), Harold DeShon (Ellen), and Richard DeShon (Daria); and sisters, Lavina Watkins, Elaine Forkel (Raymond), and Virginia Maudlin (David).
Services: 1:00 P.M. Tuesday, Meierhoffer Funeral Home & Crematory. Interment Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
