Stephen ”Steve” Joseph Verostek, 66, of St. Joseph, passed away Wednesday, March 5, 2014 at a local hospital.
Steve was born September 23, 1947 in St. Joseph to Joseph Verostek and Merna Bozarth, where he resided most of his life. He attended Benton High School and was a United States Army Veteran serving in Vietnam. Steve was of the Baptist faith and was very patriotic. He also loved listening to music.
Preceding him in death are his parents; and brothers, Jerry and Tom Farthing.
Survivors include his two sons, Jacob Verostek of St. Joseph and Justin (Jeremy) Morgan, of Topeka, KS and their mother Linda Thornhill; brother Richard (Donna)Farthing of St. Joseph; sisters, Eldora (James) Sloan of St. Joseph and Carole Verostek of Wyoming; granddaughter, Kinley Thornhill; Niece Ricci and fiancé Mike and Nephew Junior and fiancée Julia. Other survivors include Kara Thornhill and her children, Kelsey Thornhill, Kamryn Merritt and Deitrick Cary, numerous other nieces and nephews and many close friends.
Services will be 11:00 a.m. Monday at Clark-Sampson Funeral Home with interment following in Leavenworth National Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
Memorials are suggested to Hands of Hope of Hospice.
