(ST. JOSEPH, Mo.) A St. Joseph store known for its eclectic mix of novelty and music items is closing its doors.

Record Wear House will begin a liquidation process March 27. Owners Mickey and Susie Bohart opened the store at its location on South Belt in 1980 and have decided to retire.

The Boharts first opened the store in Indianapolis in 1977 but returned home to St. Joseph and brought the store with them three years later.

A store employee said they plan to finish the liquidation process in May.

"We know nothing is forever and the timing is right so it just works out fine. it's in the owners best interest," said Tina Phillips who has worked at the store since it first opened.

In a Facebook post, Susie Bohart thanked customers and employees.

The store offers a variety of items, including t-shirts, t-shirt printing, cd's and novelty items.
