(ST. JOSEPH, Mo.) The elderly are being taken care of as temperatures become less bearable.  Interserv at the Calvin Center has volunteers doing a well check as they travel their routes delivering meals.  The well check consists of making sure clients are cool and comfortable and that fans and air conditioners are running okay.

"A lot of our people live in the senior housing so they're usually fine.  But it's the people with their own homes that you have to look more closely to make sure that they are staying cool," said Director of Elderly Nutrition Angie Gardner.

Interserv at the Calvin Center is helping the whole community by opening up their doors and serving as a heat relief site.  Anyone in the neighborhood is welcome inside the building to cool off.
