(ST. JOSEPH, Mo.) Members of the community are taking advantage of a pick and eat garden.  The community garden at Mark Twain Elementary is open for harvest every Tuesday.  Anyone in the neighborhood, or any where in St. Joseph is welcome to come and pick produce during the weekly harvest.  It's not just those picking their own vegetables benefiting from the garden.....

"Anytime we have extra harvest we give it to the second harvest food kitchen so they get benefits out of it also.  So it really benefits the whole community," said Instructional Coach Karen Thurnau.

168 pounds of vegetables was harvested on Tuesday.  Mark Twain is 1 of 6 schools in St. Joseph that received grant money to start community gardens.  The harvest is open to the public each Tuesday from 10 AM until Noon.
