(ST. JOSEPH, Mo.) A St. Joseph non-profit agency got the word out about how well their clients would perform as employees.

United Cerebral Palsy of Northwest Missouri held a business expo Thursday in St. Joseph.

About 15 different businesses came to learn more about the benefits of hiring someone with a disability.

"They need employment just like everybody else," said Jeff Harken.

Harken is a participant in Leadership St. Joseph and was on the team that coordinated the expo.

"They can do a lot of things that everybody else can do. This is to raise awareness of that. They work hard. We have employers here who can attest to that.

The Supported Employment Program works to match individuals with disabilities with local employers.
