(ST. JOSEPH, Mo.) The St. Joseph School District and the University of Missouri-Kansas City are teaming up for a scholarship offered to students interested in business and accounting degrees.

UMKC's Henry W. Bloch School of Management will offer a $1,500 renewable scholarship to incoming freshman who have completed the three-year High School of Business program through the SJSD. The students must plan to major in business or accounting at UMKC.

This is the third year the district has offered the program. David Jordan, the district's business coordinator, says it gives students who really know what they want to study in college a solid core of business courses while they're still in high school.

Jordan also said the district looked into an agreement that would allow the students to receive college credit for the program, but UMKC offered the scholarship instead.

Missouri Western also recently entered into an agreement with the district that offers six hours of course credit to students who complete the business program in high school.
