More Than 93,000 Cherry Mash Handed Out at Holiday Park

The signal that the holidays are over has begun on St. Joseph's north and south sides as Holiday Park and South Pole lighting displays are coming down.
(ST. JOSEPH, Mo.) The signal that the holidays are over has begun on St. Joseph's north and south sides as Holiday Park and South Pole lighting displays are coming down.

The city does not count visitors to the holiday displays at Krug and Hyde parks. City officials use a more creative counting method for Holiday Park at Krug.

Jeff Atkins with the city says over 93,000 Cherry Mash were given away at the north side display. Volunteers try to give one of the candies to each person that passes through but realize the candy count doesn't necessarily reflect the actual number of visitors.

Atkins says crews spend about six weeks setting up both displays that are open from just after Thanksgiving through New Year's Day.
