The 2011 Buchanan County budget is about to be finalized, and today it was the public's opportunity to weigh in.
Many county agencies took cuts as the commissioners were faced with the task of trimming the budget by a million dollars.

Despite the cuts in spending, no positions or services were cut.

The commissioners held a public hearing for input, where the budget went unopposed.

The few people that did attend the hearing say despite the cuts, they are pleased with the commissioners' work drafting this year's budget.

"The way things are in today's economy, we just feel really good that we can stay at that level and that helps us figure out what else we're going to do.  We appreciate their support," said Don Miller, programs coordinator with the University of Missouri Extension Office in St. Joseph.

The 2011 Buchanan County budget will be finally approved and signed on Friday.
