State Senator Charlie Shields visited
Shields has spent twenty years in the
For Missouri Western's Eggs and Issues program, he spoke about his feelings on the state of affairs in
Senator Shields also spoke about the lessons he's learned in two decades holding public office.
He says his legacy will be based on several issues, past and present.
"[I?ll be remembered for] education issues, foundation for kindergarten through 12th grade education, bringing Missouri Western to university status, with the ability to offer graduate degrees. And obviously Chiefs training camp [as well]. Yeah, I hope those are the things that last, because I think hopefully those are things that make a real difference for our community."
After the Senator's remarks, there was a special presentation.
Shields says he's proud to have the honor from the town he's called for more than two decades.
"While I represented many municipalities,
Senator Shields will vacate his position early next year when senator elect Rob Schaaf takes over his seat in January.
