LB Basketball Coach Suspended After Being Charged with Theft

Tim Wenkel, the newly hired boy's varsity basketball coach at Bishop LeBlond, was arrested on Tuesday after being charged with theft. 
(ST. JOSEPH, Mo.) Bishop LeBlond's head boy's varsity basketball coach has been suspended from all duties after being arrested on Tuesday.

Tim Wenkel, 34,  was arrested at the school following a misdemeanor theft charge.

According to court documents, Wenkel stole various electronics, including video games, a Nintendo 3DS and various clothing from a car at the South Belt Walgreens.

The probable cause statement says Wenkel admitted he is an "alcoholic and he was driving under the influence of alcohol when the crime occurred." 

A message was sent home to parents from the school informing them of the arrest.

Wenkel was hired as the new coach back in April replacing  former head coach Steve Vertin.

Wenkel was released on a city summons with a court date scheduled for Friday.

Bishop LeBlond would not comment further on the case.
