Benedictine Matched Up with Westminster in Nat'l Tourney

The Ravens earned an automatic bid to the NAIA Division I National Championship.
(ATCHISON, Kan.) After more than 40 years, the Benedictine men's basketball team's finally going dancing once again.

No. 11 Benedictine (22-8) will meet up with Westminster (Utah) College (19-12) March 19th at 7:00pm at Municipal Auditorium in Kansas City.

The Ravens earned an automatic bid to the national tournament by winning the Heart of America Athletic Conference regular season title.

Benedictine's looking to carry over some of its regular season success into the postseason.

"This group we've got has some confidence, and they have played well against very good teams," head coach Ryan Moody said. "I don't think we'll be scared. I think we'll be excited to play. If we come to defend and show up, we'll be okay."

BC is one of four HAAC teams to earn a spot in the tournament. The Ravens appearance snaps a 44-year drought without making it into the field, which was the longest streak among all 2014 qualifiers.
