Mustangs Cruise Past Spooner

St. Joseph took control with a four-run third inning.
(ST. JOSEPH, Mo.) The Mustangs made quick work of the Spooner Bandits Wednesday night in a 6-0 win that lasted just one hour and 57 minutes.

Miles Gully blew past St. Joe's non-league opponent allowing just two base runners -- a pair of hits -- in seven innings, while striking out eight batters. The solid outing lowers his ERA to 2.28, and is his first win in five starts this summer.

St. Joseph (22-10) took control of the game with a four-run third inning.

Kyle Richards and Hayden Steele each drove in a run on a double in the frame. Trent Hill and Zac Johnson also picked up an RBI with a single in the inning.

In the Mustangs previous two games, they totaled just four runs and left 14 runners on base. The bats came through against Spooner gathering four base hits with runners in scoring position.

Wednesday's game was the first of four in a row at Phil Welch Stadium. A fireworks show will follow each game Thursday, Friday and Saturday.
