St. Joseph (42-15) will meet the Alaska Goldpanners (33-9) Saturday morning at 10:30 in the tournament's opening round.

The Mustangs won their third MINK League championship in four years Friday night in a 4-1 win over the Sedalia Bombers.

Alaska boasts 14 Division I athletes on their roster.

Pitcher Miles Chambers from Cal-State Fullerton leads the team with a 2.49 ERA, and Joel Belk of Azusa Pacific University is 4-0 with 46 strikeouts in 44 1/3 innings.

Scott Hurst -- an incoming Cal-State Fullerton freshman -- leads the Goldpanners with a .429 batting average, and three players throughout the lineup have hit at least nine home runs this summer.

The Mustangs counter with the best pitching staff in the MINK.

Staff ace Ryker Fox has a 1.51 ERA in ten starts, and Grant Gavin's a perfect seven-for-seven since entering the closer's role full time.

This is St. Joseph's third trip to the NBC World Series in the club's six year history.
